PMA2020/Indonesia is collecting data in 372 enumeration areas throughout Indonesia, led by the National Population and Family Planning Board of Indonesia (BKKBN) in collaboration with field implementation teams at three top Indonesian universities - Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Universitas Hasanuddin (UNHAS) and Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU).
Survey progress: The first round of PMA2020 data collection in Indonesia is complete; preliminary results for nationally representative data are available here in English and Indonesian.
National Population and Family Planning Board (BKKBN)
Principal Investigator: Sanjoyo Kirlan
Mr. Sanjoyo Kirlan, MEc is Deputy for Training and Development at the National Population and Family Planning Board (BKKBN), and former director for population, women's empowerment and child protection at the National Planning Board (Bappenas). As Principal Investigator, Mr. Sanjoyo oversees all PMA2020/Indonesia project activities, ensuring high-level support for PMA2020 among BKKBN leadership and other key stakeholders.
Co-Principal Investigator: Titut Yuli Prihyugiarto
Drs. Titut Yuli Prihyugiarto, MSPH is a senior researcher and former Chief Division of Results Evaluation, Centre for Family Planning & Reproductive Health Research at the National Population and Family Planning Board (BKKBN). Drs. Yugi brings a wealth of survey experience and family planning expertise to PMA2020/Indonesia’s leadership team. In the past, he has played a key role in overseeing implementation of BKKBN’s Family Planning “Mini-Survey” – a large-scale paper and pencil survey used to monitor progress on key family planning indicators.
Universitas Gadja Mada (UGM)
University Team Lead: Dr. Siswanto Wilopo
Professor Siswanto Wilopo is the Director of the Center for Reproductive Health and the Chairman of the Department of Public Health/Post-Graduate Program of Public Health Faculty of Medicine at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), and a Professor of Population Health. His research background includes family planning, reproductive health, and population health. His work on PMA2020 builds upon a longstanding collaboration of the Center for Reproductive Health UGM with the National Population and Family Planning Board (BKKBN) and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He holds an MD from UGM and a doctorate from Johns Hopkins University.
Universitas Hasanuddin (UNHAS)
University Team Lead: Dr. Ansariadi
Dr. Ansariadi is the Head of Department of Epidemiology and a senior Lecturer and Researcher at Faculty of Public Health, Hasanuddin University (UNHAS). He obtained his MSPH at Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia and his PhD at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. Dr. Ansariadi is skilled with Geographic Information System (GIS) spatial mapping and experienced in on-the-ground work in reproductive health, maternal and infant health, infectious diseases, inequalities and social determinants of health. He has a strong background in ethnography and quantitative methods. He has published several papers related to reproductive health and maternal and infant health.
Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU)
University Team Lead: Dr. Namora Lumongga Lubis
Dr. Namora Lumongga Lubis is a public health faculty member at the University of North Sumatra. Her research background includes counseling psychology, stress, depression, and mental health. Her work on PMA2020 builds upon a long-standing collaboration of the public health faculty at Universitas Sumatera Utara and BKKBN on other data collection projects, including the FP “mini survey”. Dr. Lubis holds an MSc from Manchester Metropolitan University, United Kingdom and a PhD from the University of Science Malaysia.
