Primary Health Care

In partnership with Ariadne Lab at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, a primary health care (PHC) survey module was developed to assess PHC facility performance and patient experiences. The facility survey focused on organization, management, care coordination and community engagement, areas that have been under-measured in previous global surveys. The female household survey looked at patient experience such as responsiveness of care and financial accessibility. The responses from both of these surveys were linked to create a more comprehensive picture of primary health care. Two rounds of the survey were carried out in Ghana and one round in Uganda. The survey in Ghana is the first nationally representative survey on patient experience in PHC in West Africa.
